SOMETIMES I TAKE A SLOWLY WALK
Sometimes I take a ‘slowly’ walk
And wander as I might
And be content to let the scenes
Drift in and out of sight.
I walk along the muddy path
Then past the village green
Where the trees skirt strong and tall
Through branches the moon be seen.
I then start to wonder
Can it really be the same?
The same moon that not long I saw
From a country far away.
Then memories come running back
And different views I see
And there in darkness all alone
Stands the longing part of me.
Tonight I took a ‘slowly’ walk
The moon was only half
Yet it brought back all heartaches
That will not let me starve.
And so I ponder on my ‘slowly’ walk
Perhaps she may be
Looking at that same new moon
Like me.
