‘Hello, Mrs Miles-Gordon. How are you?

What a wonderful display we have here. Such pretty colours. So many beautiful flowers. And are those your children? How lovely to see them running where they will!’

‘Hello, Mr Amos. Busy, I see, as usual. So many customers to keep you on the phone. You must barely have the time to see the wonderful display at your feet. And isn’t that your dear wife over there, calling out, trying to attract your attention.’

‘Miss Bradshaw! How lovely to see you. What a wonderful day it is and such flowers to see at every turn. Your young man not with you? Ah, what a super idea to have the refreshment tent so close to the entrance.’

‘Ah, Lady Morton. May I congratulate you on such a fine speech. More than a gentle hint to view the glorious flowers and the many stalls nearby. Such a shame you have other engagements to go to.’

‘Mr Longmore. What wonderful work you have done to bring this beautiful display to our eyes. And not easy, I hazard a guess, with this dry spell we are currently in. So much water is needed, while at the same time making sure there is sufficient for the household taps, basins and latrines’

‘Why, hello Vicar. How lovely to see you. What a surprise. But then it shouldn’t be, as I know you just adore flowers. It must take an age to look after them all. And yours is such a large garden, I believe. It must take all of your time to care for it.’
