STEEPER STILL
Up and down and up and down
Is how the road from Barkway goes
Like a rollercoaster ride
But without the gentle glide to end.
For at the last it climbs steeper still,
Hard pushed to find the strength
The inner will and distance left,
‘Keep going,’ calls a friend.
But there it is, the crossroads met
The old school and the post
St Swithun’s proudly opposite
Great Chishill; a while to mend.
